Barcelona 'meet with Arsenal over Hector Bellerin transfer and told they can land full-back for just £18m'

BARCELONA have met with Arsenal and could land Hector Bellerin for just £18million, according to reports.

The Catalan giants are regularly linked with a move for their former youth star Bellerin.

And Sport reports Barca officials have begun talks with Gunners technical director Edu about a possible move for the 25-year-old.

The Blaugrana reckon a deal will cost them between £18m to £23m.

But that figure is too steep for a club immersed in financial difficulties amid Covid-19.

However, if Barca can move on current right-back Nelson Semedo – with his agent Jorge Mendes playing a key role – they should raise the funds required.

And the Portuguese international is being offered around the Premier League with the aim of recouping a decent sum.

He was previously linked with a move to Manchester City and even a player swap with Joao Cancelo.

Reports suggest Bellerin may be ready to quit the Emirates in search of a new challenge after nine years in North London.

He has been linked with a £30m move to Champions League runners-up Paris Saint-Germain.

Mikel Arteta needs to raise funds to launch a £45m move for Atletico Madrid's defensive midfielder Thomas Partey – a long-time target.

The Spanish boss has overseen a defensive overhaul this summer with William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes arriving and Bosnian hard man Sead Kolasinac set to leave.

Saliba and Gabriel have been paired together in training ahead of the Gunners' opening Prem game against Fulham on Saturday with David Luiz a big doubt with a neck injury.

If he does leave Arsenal, Bellerin will still have some roots in England after he invested in League Two side Forest Green Rovers.

The right-back continued his eco-drive by becoming the second largest shareholder in the club renowned as the world's most environmentally-friendly team.
