Arne Slot REJECTS Tottenham to stay at Feyenoord leaving Spurs in limbo over hunt for new manager | The Sun

ARNE SLOT has rejected Tottenham and decided to stay at Feyenoord.

The 44-year-old was the frontrunner to succeed Antonio Conte at Spurs.

But now he has revealed he will be staying in the Netherlands next season.

As reported by Dutch media outlet AD, he said: "I have heard a lot about the interest of other clubs in me.

"I am grateful for the appreciation that this expresses, but my wish is to stay with Feyenoord and continue to build on the foundations that have been laid over the past two seasons.

"There are no transfer talks going on and there have been none and yesterday's discussion was solely about a possible extension.

"All conversations with Feyenoord are only aimed at that. I look forward to the new season at Feyenoord."

The news comes just three days after he reportedly said yes to joining Tottenham in the summer.

Over the weekend, Feyenoord's general manager Dennis te Kloese told ESPN: "[Slot] still has a contract for two years. That has been said before and we have not been approached by any club.

"It is up to Arne to say something about that [his future]. But for us there is no ambiguity about it. We assume that he will remain the trainer of Feyenoord."

Commenting on his own future, Slot said: "Everyone needs clarity quickly. "I [rejected] Leeds in the winter and now I’m staying or leaving.

"My departure can also be good for the club, but if there is no dream club then I will stay.

"In football it is commonplace that you talk to clubs. I am not saying that I have done it now, but it is not forbidden that I talk to other clubs."

Slot joined Feyenoord in 2021 and led them to the Europa Conference League final at the end of his first season in charge – which they lost to Roma.

And he has pushed on this term, leading the Dutch side to their first Eredivisie title in six years.

Slot's withdrawal from the race to become Spurs boss follows Xabi Alonso and Vincent Kompany ruling themselves out.

Those still in the frame include Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, Luciano Spalletti and Brendan Rodgers.

Nagelsmann has been back in talks with Spurs but was to know who will replace sporting director Fabio Paratici before committing himself to the Premier League club.

Paratici has been hit with a worldwide ban by Fifa when his old club Juventus was found guilty of false accounting.
