Anthony Joshua mocks Tyson Fury for fighting unknown Otto Wallin and claims he’s not bothered about becoming undisputed champion any more – The Sun

ANTHONY JOSHUA has mocked Tyson Fury for fighting Otto Wallin – and will not focus on becoming undisputed champion until he rematches Andy Ruiz Jr.

AJ, 29, saw a historic undisputed title fight with WBC king Deontay Wilder go up in smoke after Ruiz caused a 25-1 upset against the Brit superstar in June.

While Joshua prepares to rematch the unified champion in Saudi Arabia on December 7 – Brit rival Fury is getting ready to face unknown Swedish southpaw Wallin on September 14 in Las Vegas.

Focusing on only avenging his loss to Ruiz, AJ told Sky Sports unifying the heavyweight titles is now out of mind.

Joshua said: “I’m not focusing on that any more.

“I’d had 22 fights and was talking about being undisputed. What am I going to do after? Go and fight Otto Wallin?

"Fury's gonna fight Otto Wallin. No-one talks about that. I fought Wallin as an amateur.

"These guys are cream of the crop, they shouldn't be fighting them type of people –  I can't fight Wallin, don't think I can ever fight lower-tier heavyweights."

Joshua twice beat Wallin as an amateur and used the unbeaten Swede as a sparring partner before he captured his first world title, against Charles Martin in 2016 for the IBF crown.

Wilder and Fury are also set to rematch in early 2020 following the Gypsy King’s contentious draw in LA in December.

With Joshua frozen out of the picture against the division's unbeaten pair he insists only Ruiz is in his mindset.

It comes after the 6ft 6in former champion admitted the lure of a fighting Wilder for the unified belts affected his mindset before his disastrous US debut at Madison Square Garden.

AJ still dreams of becoming the first heavyweight to hold all four titles – but will return to that target once his road to redemption in the Middle East is over.

Joshua added: “It was like I was coming to the end of my road already, worrying about undisputed.

“I became heavyweight champion, I unified the division twice, and now my goal is to become two-time heavyweight champion of the world.

“Once I achieve that, I can look at becoming undisputed champion.”
