Alexis Sanchez baffles fans with weird identical framed dog pictures in his house that were spotted in Instagram post

And in the case of Alexis Sanchez, that sentiment has never been more relevant.

The Manchester United forward is currently nursing a hamstring injury, which manager Jose Mourinho fears will keep him out for the rest of 2018.

He documented the start of his recovery on Thursday after sustaining the injury in training, providing his Instragam followers with an update regarding his process.

Initially, everything seems normal.

Sanchez posts an image of him relaxing, attached to a device which specialises in ramping up his recovery. Good stuff.

As well as a sad emoji the picture also contains one of his dogs Atom who is looking similarly forlorn.

But some eagle-eyed fans have noticed an aspect of the post which takes Sanchez's affection for his pooches into the realms of obsessive.

In the background, sitting on top of a low cabinet is a framed picture of Sanchez with his two dogs, the aforementioned Atom with Humber. Again, nothing particularly alarming there.

But next to the picture is an identical image of him embracing his pets.

You have to wonder about the insecurity of an individual if they need two matching photos of their dogs, side-by-side.

Many fans have noticed this oddity, with Jerome from Snowbound writing on Twitter: "Get someone who loves you as much as Sanchez loves his dogs."

Lee added: "Why does Alexis Sanchez have the same photo of him and dogs framed twice?"

Meanwhile, referencing a sad-looking Atom Keith Russel wrote: "Sanchez has just told his dog that Lukaku is gonna play up top from now on."

Atom and Humber have celebrity status in their own right, with the former having appeared in a film called 'Real Steel'

The pair have their own Instagram account with over 185,000 followers.

And while Sanchez was at Arsenal supporters hung a banner at The Emirates Stadium paying tribute to the dogs – presumably in the absence of any real silverware to celebrate.

So as Sanchez recovers from another setback at Old Trafford, at least United fans can rest easy that he won't be going through the ordeal alone.
