  • MARTIN KEOWN believes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should be the next Arsenal captain.

Granit Xhaka is under pressure after his outburst at the weekend.

And Keown reckons Aubameyang would be the perfect replacement.

He told the Mail: “Emery is as much to blame as anyone.

“If you let the players pick their skippers, then it becomes a popularity contest and that’s not what leadership is about.

“I’ve never had a manager who decided the captaincy that way and, for me, Aubameyang is the safer bet.”

  • LUCAS TORREIRA was reduced to tears when Arsenal fans booed Granit Xhaka as he was taken off against Crystal Palace.

The Swiss international has refused to apologise after he appeared to tell his own supporters to “f*** off” during the 2-2 draw.

Torreira was left feeling emotional after the club captain ripped off his shirt and stormed down the tunnel.

Arsenal's chief photographer Stuart McFarlane reluctantly shared three snaps of the 23-year-old's reaction.

He added the caption: “Didn't want to post these pictures but felt I had to.

“This is Lucas Torreira's emotional reaction to the abuse Granit Xhaka received after his substitution, in tears and inconsolable. Absolute love and respect for his captain.

  • GRANIT XHAKA got straight down to business as he returned to Arsenal after his furious fan rant.

The Gunners captain has been at the centre of a storm since telling supporters to “f*** off” when they roundly booed him in the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery said today the 27-year-old is “devastated” – and should apologise for what he did.

Xhaka – who has removed the photo of himself in Arsenal kit from his Instagram bio – had his eye on the ball at London Colney today, though.

He was pictured training alongside Lucas Torreira – who was in tears on the touchline watching what happened to Xhaka – Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Shkodran Mustafi.

Emery confirmed today that Xhaka will not feature in Arsenal's Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool on Wednesday.

  • ARSENAL fans have begged their club to re-sign Santi Cazorla after discovering he is the fourth most creative player in Europe.

When he was let go by the Gunners with serious concerns over his fitness it looked like the midfielder might struggle to compete at an elite level ever again, but the 34-year-old has created an impressive 30 chances for the Spanish club this season.

Only Fiorentina ace Erick Pulgar (30), Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne(36) and Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold (37) have made more in the top five leagues.

After the statistic went viral on Twitter, one fan on Reddit said: “I would take Cazorla back in a heartbeat seriously.

“Even if it is one for one season. He has shown he still has it at the highest level.”

Another said: “He would be a godsend right now. We should approach in January for a loan.”

One Twitter user said: “Cazorla… Why we let him out?”
