    No update has been given, but the injury appeared to be a muscle strain and could mean the return of Marcos Alonso to the starting XI at Wolves.

  • BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche will reportedly meet with Danny Drinkwater on Monday morning to discuss his future at Turf Moor.

    The Sun on Sunday exclusively revealed that the midfielder was attacked by six men outside of a Manchester nightclub after trying to sleep with another footballer's partner.

    Drinkwater, 29, was thrown out of the Chinawhite club last weekend after a boozy night out, before a gang of thugs jumped on the England international.

    A source said: “At one point he was curled up in a ball on the ground, as they repeatedly jumped up and down on his ankle and shouting, ‘Break his legs’.”

    “They knew he was a Premier League star and it was his livelihood. There was blood everywhere, and it was all incredibly nasty.”

    The former Leicester star has been left with cuts and bruises on his face, and will face a spell on the sidelines after suffering ankle ligament damage.

    SunSport previously reported that Drinkwater – on loan from Chelsea -faces six weeks out after suffering a freak injury.

    Drinkwater has made no formal complaint to the police at this stage.

    Parent club Chelsea are aware of the incident, but are leaving Burnley to deal with it.

  • FRANK LAMPARD's Chelsea are eyeing up a successful return to Premier League action.

    The Blues face Wolves in their next top-flight clash as they look to improve following an inconsistent start to the campaign.

    And reports suggest that they could be about to spend big in January – targeting SIX players despite their transfer ban.

    The Blues couldn't bring in new players over the summer due to a ban from FIFA, which is meant to last until next June.

    However, Chelsea chiefs appear confident the decision could be overturned in the coming months.

    The west London outfit have appealed the ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport – constantly repeating their denials when it comes to any wrongdoing.

    Danny Drinkwater has held crisis talks with Burnley gaffer Sean Dyche after he was attacked outside a Manchester nightclub.

    The on-loan Chelsea star was thrown out by security before a gang of up to six men attacked him with a blunt object.

    A source said: “It was incredibly nasty with blood everywhere.”

    While Jorginho believes he is now a better player because of the experience of playing in the Premier League last season.

    The Italian followed former Blues' boss Maurizio Sarri from Napoli to join Chelsea last summer and had an inconsistent first season at the club.

    The 27-year-old has started every game under new head coach Frank Lampard and has earned praise for his performances this season.

    “I think I had a fantastic first season and it was fundamental for my growth process. I am stronger in defence now, I go into challenges with more determination and control the game,” he said, as reported by Football Italia.
