THE January transfer window is in full swing as clubs in the Premier League and around Europe look for reinforcements.

Danny Drinkwater has been recalled by Chelsea and dispatched on loan to Aston Villa while Arsenal and Spurs are both looking for some new defenders.

  • BRENDAN RODGERS insists Leicester star James Maddison is going nowhere this month.

    The Manchester United target faces Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg tonight and Foxes boss Rodgers says the club are still in talks over a new deal.

    The midfielder, 23, has a contract until 2023 and Rodgers said: “James is a very talented player and he will be here in January and beyond.

    “He’s a player we’re keen to remain here and help us on this journey over the next years.

    “James and his representatives are speaking with the club. These things take time but his level has not dropped. He is playing at a high level.”

    Rodgers is not expecting any other big names to leave this month.

    Rodgers added: “There’s no pressure to sell and no need to sell.”

    Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Aston Villa are weighing up a move to sign AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.

    The forward could be allowed to leave this month following the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

    Romano tweeted: “Aston Villa are considering to make a bid to AC Milan for Krzysztof Piatek.

    “Talks ongoing – the striker has not decided yet about his future.”

    Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Inter Milan have enquired about Ashley Young!

    He tweeted: “Inter Milan have asked for Ashley Young.

    “Talks ongoing with Man United – the player is ready to accept.

    “Antonio Conte wants him strongly.”

    This would be the third player Inter have signed from United this season after Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

  • CHELSEA are reportedly open to offers for Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso.

    The Telegraph state that Inter Milan are among the clubs interested in him, with former boss Antonio Conte keen for a reunion with the defender.

    And he could be joined by team-mate Olivier Giroud at the San Siro with the Serie A side also ready to sign the striker.

    SunSport reported how the Blues are keeping tabs on Atalanta full-back Robin Gosens.

  • MANCHESTER UNITED and Arsenal reportedly 'submitted offers' for Chelsea target Edinson Cavani.

    The Paris Saint-Germain striker – who has also been linked with Atletico Madrid – is set to become a free agent in the summer.

    Spanish news outlet El Chiringuito claim Diegom Simeone's side are leading the race to sign him, though they face competition from the Gunners and Red Devils.

    They state that they have both made offers to nab the 32-year-old.

    Reports in France meanwhile claim Frank Lampard's club are keen to secure his services at the end of the season.
