6.10pm Chelsea transfer news LIVE: Ziyech injury LATEST, Declan Rice targeted EXCLUSIVE, Donnarumma eyed to replace Kepa – The Sun

CHELSEA have added Thiago Silva to their long list of summer signings, but they're not done yet.

Kai Havertz is seemingly next, while bids for Declan Rice and Gianluigi Donnarumma are reportedly being lined up.

The Blues played out a 1-1 draw with Brighton infront of a small crowd at the Amex and although Timo Werner found the net, there was concern as Hakim Ziyech was forced off through injury.

  • PLAYER RATINGS

SunSport dished out our ratings for the Chelsea players in today's game.

Timo Werner impressed with a debut goal and received 8/10.

Also earning an 8 was Callum Hudson-Odoi who set up his strike and looked industrious throughout.

However, Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso left a lot to be desired after picking up an early booking in a friendly and his sloppy play saw him given just 4/10.

Blues fans will be desperate to see new signing Ben Chilwell out on the field ASAP.

  • ALL SQUARE

Chelsea drew 1-1 against Brighton at the Amex.

The pre-season friendly ended level after a late penalty converted by Pascal Gross.

New signing Timo Werner bagged his first Blues goal just four minutes into the game.

But fellow new ace Hakim Ziyech hobbled off to leave Frank Lampard and Chelsea fans sweating ahead of the new season.

  • WHAT ZIYECH?

Hakim Ziyech has limped out of Chelsea's friendly with Brighton, just two weeks before the start of the Premier League season.

The Moroccan was making his first outing in a Blues shirt following his switch from Ajax.

But it ended prematurely, as just ten minutes into the second half Frank Lampard was forced to withdraw the 27-year-old.

After appearing to hurt his ankle, Chelsea's medical staff were taking no risks, as physios helped the ex-Ajax star as he limped off the Amex pitch.

He was replaced by academy starlet Conor Gallagher.

  • GERMAN EFFICIENCY

Timo Werner wasted no time hitting the ground running after needing less than four minutes to open his Chelsea account.

The £53million summer signing is off to a flyer after linking up with fellow new arrival Hakim Ziyech to score in their pre-season clash with Brighton.

Boss Frank Lampard announced a strong starting XI that also included the likes of N'Golo Kante and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

But it appears Werner has already stolen the show by scoring with just his second touch of the ball.

A brilliant pass from Ziyech found Hudson-Odoi in the box who headed it into the path of Werner.

The 24-year-old goal machine needed no second introduction before burying his chance confidently in the bottom corner.

  • CHAMPIONS!

Chelsea FC Women have won the Community Shield.

Wild celebrations are underway following the 2-0 win over Manchester City.

  • DON'T MISS OUT

Fans make their return to elite English football this afternoon as Brighton take on Chelsea in a friendly.

No more than 2500 people will be allowed into the Amex as the government pilots the return of supporters to games ahead of an official change to restrictions in October.

Today's crunch clash is set to kick-off at 3pm.

Unfortunately, Brighton vs Chelsea is not being shown live on UK TV.

But tune into SunSport's LIVE blog of the match to keep up to date with ALL of the action.

  • NICE LITTLE WERNER

Timo Werner is excited to finally wear the Blues shirt during today's clash against Brighton.

Speaking ahead of kick-off, he said: “I’m very happy that the league starts in two weeks and I’m excited to test myself in the Premier League.

“I also can’t wait for the friendly game against Brighton, to finally get out there wearing the Blue shirt.”

  • THREE'S A CROWD

Chelsea could still make THREE more signings this summer despite their monster spending already.

The Blues have already bought Ben Chilwell (£50million), Timo Werner (£48m) and Hakim Ziyech (£36m) this window.

Centre-backs Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr have also arrived on free transfers.

Despite already over-compensating for last summer's transfer ban, Frank Lampard hopes to bring in THREE more new faces.

Kai Havertz is the top target, with the £90m-rated Bayer Leverkusen star expected to be confirmed at Stamford Bridge imminently.

  • SHAKE IT OFF

The Chelsea kid mascot who hilariously snubbed Steven Gerrard's tunnel handshake nearly 15 years ago has signed for Jamie O'Hara's Billericay Town.

And now Jake Nickless will hope to make his own strides in the game – though has a long way to go to emulate his 'victim' Gerrard.

It was back in 2006 before Chelsea's home game against Liverpool, where Nickless made headlines all over the world.

Gerrard was captaining his beloved Liverpool, and kindly reached out to shake then-five-year-old Nickless' hand after the cheeky kid had shouted his name.

But Nickless, with hair dyed blue to support the Londoners, then pulled his hand away shunning the England legend spectacularly.

  • WILL I NEVER

Mikel Arteta has been impressed by Willian's winning mentality since he arrived at Arsenal from Chelsea.

Ahead of the clash against Liverpool, the Gunners boss said: “I want players who are optimistic and willing and they want to win for our club.

“That is the feeling I got from the first day I met Willian.

“He is not satisfied with what he has done in his career, which is a lot, and he is going to bring some special qualities for our team.”

  • BLUES CRUISE

Here's how the start of the season is looking for Chelsea…

  • INTER HIM

N'Golo Kante is at the top of Inter Milan's transfer wish list, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Antonio Conte is hoping to reunite with the midfielder in Italy this summer.

The Italian manager lured Kante away from Premier League winning Leicester in 2016.

And now managing Inter Milan, it is claimed Conte has reignited an interest in signing him.

  • STICKY RICE

Frank Lampard reportedly plans to sell N'Golo Kante to fund his move for Declan Rice.

The club have told the manager that he needs to sell some players before signing the West Ham midfielder.

Football Insider claim Lampard has identified the Frenchman as one of the players he is prepared to offload.

He has even reportedly told Kante that he is free to leave the club this summer.

  • BEING FRANK

Chelsea have already snapped up Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr and Xavier Mbuyamba.

SunSport exclusively revealed that Frank Lampard is also plotting a move for Declan Rice.

Following his spending spree, this incredible image has been doing the rounds…

  • 'VERY EXCITED'

Timo Werner has admitted he “can't wait” to make his debut for Chelsea.

Ahead of the pre-season friendly against Brighton, he told the club website: “I'm very excited. I can't wait.

“I was training on my own for a while when I first signed, but I've been working with the whole team over the past week or so and it's been great.

“It was strange at first [when I arrived] because you just want to work hard, meet all the team and get straight to it on the training field but I had to be patient.”

  • TAM TO MOVE?

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is wanted by Aston Villa as he faces a big fight for his future in West London.

The Blues have signed Timo Werner this summer after seasons of scoring in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.

According to MailOnline, Villa “have asked” about Abraham, but the 22-year-old “wants to stay and fight for his place at Stamford Bridge”.

Abraham is of course well known to the Birmingham outfit having enjoyed a brilliant spell season there in 2018/19.

  • DON THE MARCH

Chelsea have made Gianluigi Donnarumma their top goalkeeping target, according to reports.

Frank Lampard has been desperate to replace Kepa this summer and been linked with an approach for Burnley's Nick Pope and Watford's Ben Foster.

But a Chelsea source has told Football Insider that Donnarumma is now the man they want between the sticks.

The goalkeeper is entering the final year of his AC Milan contract and agent Mino Raiola would certainly drive a hard bargain if the Rossoneri want him to renew.

As a result, the Italian side are said to be willing to sell the 21-year-old for around £50m.

  • EXCLUSIVE

Chelsea are ready to push their summer spend above £250million by finally making a firm offer for Declan Rice, writes Duncan Wright.

Any move for Rice would be a costly one, but Frank Lampard still wants the midfielder from West Ham, who rate him at £80m and will not make it easy to strike a deal.

Lamps sees 21-year-old midfielder Rice — who also plays in defence — as the ideal man to help the club get back in the Premier League title mix.

The Stamford Bridge outfit are prepared to play the long game, knowing West Ham need to sell before they buy.

And if David Moyes can't sell the likes of Felipe Anderson then he may have no choice but to let Rice go.

  • MORNING CHELSEA FANS

Chelsea announced their third signing in as many days on Friday when they confirmed Thiago Silva has joined the club on a one-year deal.

And after the arrivals of Ben Chilwell and Malang Sarr this week, the Blues are looking to add Declan Rice to their ranks.

SunSport have exclusively revealed how Chelsea are ready to push their summer spending to above £250million by finally making a firm offer for the West Ham man.

Frank Lampard still wants Rice from West Ham, who rate him at £80m and will not make it easy to strike a deal.

Lamps sees 21-year-old midfielder Rice — who also plays in defence — as the ideal man to help the club get back in the Premier League title mix.

Meanwhile, Diego Costa is reportedly “open” to joining Tottenham to reunite with Jose Mourinho.

Atletico Madrid want to sell the 31-year-old after a disappointing season saw him score just five times.

According to the Daily Star, Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Costa, but the North London club have concerns over the striker's age and fitness levels.

And finally, Chelsea are reportedly considering selling Marcos Alonso to Sevilla.

Should they sell the Spaniard, who struggled to keep a spot in the team, they are likely to bank £18m.

  • PUSH 'N PUL

Chelsea icon Pat Nevin has backed Ben Chilwell to form a formidable partnership with Christian Pulisic down the left flank.

He said: “At Chelsea will Ben Chilwell have an intelligent, skilful, pacy winger to work with who has a superb football brain?

“One who has vision, can see a pass and crucially knows when to vacate the space for his mate hammering down the line on that left-hand side?

“A player who on top of that is selfless and keen to build a partnership out there with one-twos, dummies and the ability to draw defenders to make space?

“I may well have given something close to a perfect description of Christian Pulisic just there. That could be one extraordinary partnership if they click.

“We have others who can play out there of course and a Callum Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech or Mason Mount linking up with Chilwell would be also be chilling concept for most Premier League defences.”

  • BRAGGING RIGHTS

  • STRIKE THE RIGHT DEAL

Premier League sides are spoilt rotten with options if they are looking for a proven striker with European experience.

Out of favour Barcelona star Luis Suarez, former Chelsea flop Gonzalo Higuain, unattached Edinson Cavani and Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa have all been linked with shock moves to the Premier League.

But which out of the experienced veterans would be the best bet for an English side?

SunSport delves into some of the key stats surrounding the four.

  • DEVIL BLOW

Leicester have lined up Monaco defender Fode Ballo-Toure to replace new Chelsea signing Ben Chilwell.

Manchester United are also believed to be keen on the defender to provide competition for Luke Shaw.

But in a blow for the Red Devils, reports in France now claim Leicester officials have begun talks for the eight-cap former France Under-21 international.

Monaco are said to want £18m for Ballo-Toure – a fee well within the King Power club's grasp following Chilwell's £50m sale.

And the Monte Carlo club has already secured a replacement for him in Atletico Madrid's Brazilian left-back Caio Henrique, 23.
