Videos show exterminator attempting to get rid of horrifyingly large wasp nest in Chevy Malibu

A Louisiana beekeeper came across a frightening scene when he spotted a terrifyingly large wasp nest inside a Chevrolet Malibu.

Three weeks ago, a YouTube user by the name of Jude shared a video on his channel Stinger Creations, showing what appears to be an endless number of southern yellow jackets flying inside an old sedan.

“I got a call on this Malibu that said they had honeybees,” Jude, who is also an exterminator, says. “This is actually a southern yellow jacket, which is actually a paper wasp. Vespula squamosa is the scientific name.”

Jude then zooms his camera in, revealing a perennial nest in the car’s front passenger seat. Footage also shows the nest spreading to the backseat and even the vents.

“South Louisiana,” he says. “You gotta love it.”

In a follow-up video that Jude shared last week, another beekeeper is seen sitting in the driver’s seat, seemingly enjoying himself.

“I’m headed down the bayou,” he says, when Jude jokingly asks him where he’s going.

A third video shows one of the beekeepers poking at the nest before a swarm of wasps fly aggressively around what appears to be a mannequin’s head.

Altogether, Jude’s three videos have amassed nearly 600,000 views.

This isn’t the first time perennial nests have attracted attention. Earlier this year, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System shed light on several “super nests” — some as large as cars — that popped up in Alabama. Entomologists say that temperature increases in recent months have allowed wasps to enter spring in larger numbers and, in turn, build unusually sizable nests.
