Wacky billionaire Elon Musk has declared his Neuralink brain chip is ready to be used – and he is so confident that he has vowed to have one put in his own head for a demonstration.
The mind-blowing invention that can allow people to use technology with nothing but their brain waves has already been inserted into a nine-year-old macaque monkey which was able to play video games using its mind.
Musk has admitted the new equipment does “sound like a Black Mirror episode” as users will be “able to save and replay memories” – but he also pointed out its medical uses, claiming it could cure blindness and even paralysis.

Now, the SpaceX and Tesla CEO has taken his latest project to Twitter to write: “We are now confident that the Neuralink device is ready for humans, so timing is a function of working through the FDA approval process.”
He added the chip is undetectable, pledging to get one himself in a demonstration.
But while some people are excited at the ground-breaking new technology, which can supposedly also give its user orgasms on demand, top scientists have admitted they are scared at the potential consequences.
Some boffins worry society is not ready for the unpredictable change of merging the human brain with technology in such a new way.

Doctor Karola Kreitmair, assistant professor of medical history and bioethics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, pointed out that it would be very difficult to remove the device or repair any damage caused once it’s already implanted into the brain.
She argued: “I don't think there is sufficient public discourse on what the big picture implications of this kind of technology becoming available are.
“I worry that there's this uncomfortable marriage between a company that is for-profit… and these medical interventions that hopefully are there to help people.”
