The early 2000s T-Mobile Sidekick took the world by storm with a screen that swiveled to reveal the keyboard ,and LG has resurrected the nostalgic feature with a modern twist.
The South Korean firm is said to be working on its own swiveling smartphone, in which the bottom display is only revealed when the top is turned horizontally – creating a T shaped device.
Code named ‘Wing’, the main screen is 6.8 inches, while the ‘sub screen’ is designed as a four-inch square.
The ‘Wing’ is focused on improving content immersion, allowing users to run multiple apps and different functions at once.

In 2002, T-Mobile released the Sidekick that was dubbed ‘the coolest smartphone of all time.’
The handset was the first to incorporate a swivel feature that allowed users to turn the main display to reveal a keyboard underneath.
Although LG may not have had the nostalgic handset in mind when designing Wing, it does seem to pull some inspiration from it.
Concept images of Wing surfaced on the web that show a smartphone with two screens – each appears to allow individual functions, as reported on by Engadget.

Although the renderings do not provide much detail of each screen’s functionality, they do suggest the second display works as the keyboard.
When the top screen is swiveled horizontally, it creates a T-shape – or one could say the phone is spreading its wings.
According to ETNews, the Wing handset will use its second screen for multitasking. You might use the primary display to view a photo, for example, while leaving the second screen free to access editing controls.
