I’m a flight attendant and the worst thing passengers do happens before takeoff

Flying somewhere on holiday should be a fun experience, watching the in-flight films, and enjoying a well-earned drink after weeks of work. But too often it is spoiled before the plane even leaves the tarmac as the aisle is blocked by someone trying to force their massive bag into the overhead bins.

And it turns out that such behaviour frustrates flight attendants too, with one saying that the most annoying thing passengers do, happens just before the aircraft takes off.

Chris Kellum has used his TikTok channel to show people exactly what not to do when they get on the plane and find their seat.

In a video, the member of cabin crew has re-enacted a large bag being crammed into the overhead locker above the seats.

And, just like in real life, unsurprisingly it does not fit.

Captioning the video “Things that annoy flight attendants” he explained why passengers must follow the airline rules.

He then gives the simple message that if a passenger’s bag does not fit then it will have to be checked in.

Over the tannoy he performs a beginning of the flight announcement and says: “If you place a larger bag in the overhead bin, we ask that you make sure it closes before you take your seat.”

One of his colleagues plays the part of a passenger who crams their bag into the overhead locker, but it is far too big and juts out over the side, with the wheels sticking out.

Pretending to be oblivious to what has happened, the “passenger” sits down before Mr Kellum comes up to him and says: “The overhead bin is not closing.

“So unfortunately, it doesn’t fit, so we’re going to have to check your bag.”

The “passenger” then asks the kind of questions Mr Kellum must have heard a million times, saying: “But I don’t get it, it fit last time. How come it didn’t fit today? What happened?

“The plane got smaller? Like, what’s going on?”

MailOnline reports that Mr Kellum is a crew member for a budget US airline.

In another video posted on his channel the captain of the plane plays the part of an over-demanding traveller, asking for a rubbish bag and then a drink and being very specific about the number of ice cubes he wants.

And in another clip, he requests that for safety, and to keep the plane clear from obstructions, passengers must hold onto their coats and other loose items.
