Brothel offers sex tape souvenirs so punters can be real-life porn stars

Visiting one of Nevada’s legal brothels is a rare experience for most people. So it’s understandable if punters want a souvenir of their visit to enjoy at home.

One of the state’s 21 officially-licenced houses of pleasure, Sheri’s Ranch, has come up with the perfect solution.

A dedicated sex tape room where you can record video of everything that goes on from multiple angles, controlling the experience with voice commands via Amazon’s Alexa.

Monitors are dotted around the room so the performers can get an idea of how things are looking and adjust their angles accordingly.

To start the ball rolling, a guest just has to say: "Alexa, begin the porn star experience" out loud – and the lights and cameras switch on, ready for the action.

Dena, the madam of the legal brothel, says the Alexa-powered sex tape room is their “most innovative offering yet.”

But not everyone takes a positive view of Nevada’s legal brothels.

New York Times columnist Bob Herbert, appealing for a ban on them, wrote: “A grotesque exercise in the dehumanisation of women is carried out routinely at Sheri's Ranch, a legal brothel about an hour's ride outside of Vegas.

“There the women have to respond like Pavlov's dog to an electronic bell that might ring at any hour of the day or night. "

“At the sound of the bell," he continued "the prostitutes have five minutes to get to an assembly area where they line up, virtually naked, and submit to a humiliating inspection by any prospective customer who has happened to drop by”.

Which is why, perhaps, for every one professional-looking porno made at Sherri’s ranch there are hundreds, probably thousands, of more basic ones being made in bedrooms around the world.

IllicitEncounters, the dating site for married people, conducted some research on homemade sex tapes in December 2018. They found that about a third of couples had made their own amateur sex tape.

Jessica Leoni, the site’s, sex and relationship expert told Daily Star Online that the popularity of home-brewed porn is at an all time high: “We have the technology at our fingertips to explore this type of erotic play with ease and discretion.

With camera phones only getting more advanced, the replay is real play.”

Sex tapes are becoming almost standard, Jessica says: We’re obsessed with filming ourselves having sex, and have been ever since it was possible to record it,” she told us. “You can be the star, director and audience of your own cinematic debut, and why wouldn't you?

“Let's face it,” she says, “It's kinky and fun, and more people than not have given it a shot. In this day and age, it’s weirder to have not made a home-made porno…”

In an age when many of us, especially younger people, practically live on our phones, having a video record of something – a holiday, a gig, a night of sexual pleasure – is an essential part of making it real.

Sexpert Annabelle Knight told Daily Star Online that sex tapes used to be seen as something that celeb did but now they’re just part of everyday life, like high fashion tricking down to the high street.

Besides, Annabelle says: “making a tape with a partner you trust is a great way to build intimacy, not just because of the act of sex itself, but because you have made something for your eyes only.

“Sex tapes aren’t just about the ‘in the moment’ making of them either, they’re something to look back on, and look forward to watching again.”

Of course, recordings don’t have to show the things people do every day. Leading Dominatrix Mistress Evilyne says that sometimes her slaves ask for recordings of their time in her lair.

She told Daily Star Online that, as in everything else she does, she insists on retaining control.

“I always make them sign a contract,” she says, “and give them the option of either allowing me to then sell the footage for a profit at no extra cost to them or they pay extra and get the footage just for themselves.

“But either way,” she sternly adds “I never allow them to use their own camera. I always do the filming then send them the file.”

Keeping control of what you’ve recorded is essential, whether you’re in a relationship or just having fun with someone you met on Tinder.

YouTube star Chrissy Chambers fought, and eventually won, a legal battle against an ex who shared videos of the couple having sex online. But it took four years of stress, heartache and legal fees.

The widespread use of video cameras, like robots , virtual reality , and international communications , are just one more way that technology and sex are coming together.

The new technology will pop up in more and more brothels – legal or not – as time goes on. And they’re already being put to use in one in three homes – so if you’re not making a dirty movie tonight, your next-door neighbour is.
