Ryder (Lukas Radovich) has been framed by newcomer Jade (Mia Morrissey) after he told their boss Mackenzie (Emily Weir) at Salt that she’d been regularly stealing, pocketing cash instead of putting it in the register. To his horror, Jade was arrested after Mackenzie called the police – but he was surprised when Jade returned later to apologise to him.
Her secret plans took a dark turn when Ryder was approached by Colby (Tim Franklin) and arrested. With Roo (Georgie Parker) in tow, Ryder was shocked and embarrassed to find a sex tape of him with Jade had been uploaded online – and he was being charged for it.
On the beach, Jade continues to rack up false evidence against Ryder, provoking him before hitting record on her phone and getting footage of what looks like him getting angry with her for no reason.
Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo), a newcomer to the Bay, steps in and ‘saves’ Jade, where the pair go to Salt and have a drink before kissing publicly on the balcony, where Ryder sees everything. He tells Nikau that Jade is bad news, but he won’t listen.
Nikau tells Ryder to get lost, and a comment from Ryder leads Nikau to throw a punch. Ben (Rohan Nichol) walks in on the two men fighting, and breaks them up, telling Nikau to walk it off. Jade is pleased when she finds out Ryder got a black eye.
Ryder returns home covered in his fight injuries as Alf (Ray Meagher), Roo and Martha (Belinda Giblin) are celebrating good news. Alf is furious that Ryder is walking around getting into fights, which leads an exasperated Ryder to confess everything about the sex tape – and the fact he could be going down for it…
