The Rolling Stones release NEW music with lockdown song Living in a Ghost Town – WATCH

Just like the rest of us, celebrities are in lockdown due to the coronavirus. And The Rolling Stones have been working their creative chops on brand new music. In fact, their first original song in eight years that has been tailored especially to the worldwide situation.

The track, written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards is called Living in a Ghost Town, released today to stream and download.

While a music video is up on their official YouTube channel, which sees circular cameras speed through deserted cities around the world.

Jagger’s lyrics include: “Life was so beautiful, then we all got locked down.

“Feel like a ghost, living in a ghost town.”

On Living in a Ghost Town, The Rolling Stones singer said: “So the Stones were in the studio recording some new material before the lockdown.

“And there was one song we thought would resonate through the times that we’re living in right now.

“We’ve worked on it in isolation. And here it is – It’s called Living in a Ghost Town – I hope you like it”

While Richards said: “So, let’s cut a long story short.”

The guitarist continued: “We cut this track well over a year ago in LA for part of a new album, an ongoing thing and then sh** hit the fan.

“Mick and I decided this one really needed to go to work right now and so here you have it , Living in a Ghost Town.  Stay safe!”

Drummer Charlie Wood said: “I enjoyed working on this track.

“I think it captures a mood and I hope people who listen to it will agree.”

While Ronnie Wood added: “Thanks so much for all your messages these past few weeks.

“It means so much to us that you enjoy the music.

“So we have a brand new track for you, we hope you enjoy it.

“It has a haunting melody, it’s called Living in A Ghost Town.”

Last weekend The Rolling Stones performed together – but remotely – during a live stream.

The band played You Can’t Always Get What You Want as part of Lady Gaga’s charity event One World: Together At Home.

What particularly drew fan attention was Rolling Stones drummer Watts, who wasn’t playing the drums at all.

Watts was seen playing “air drums” on some cases and even used an armchair as a cymbal, which caused much amusement among fans.
