On this day, August 16, 1962, Pete Best was removed from The Beatles after performing with them for two years. A number of stories have since come out over why he was kicked out of the band, from not being a “good enough” drummer to him being “too good looking”. To make his dismissal from the Fab Four even more painful, the band themselves didn’t even break the news to the youngster. Instead, their manager, Brian Epstein, told him, before sending him home to his mother, Mona Best – another friend of the band. On the same day, Ringo Starr joined the band.
