Lil Wayne’s A3C Festival Set Cut Short After False Gunshot Report Causes Chaos

Lil Wayne‘s performance set at A3C Festival in Atlanta on Sunday night, October 8 didn’t go as planned. The rapper was immediately ushered off stage by his security members when the audience began to stampede in fear.

Footage from the scene appeared to show the crowd quickly dispersing before the end of his performance. They were able to break through metal security barriers while authorities called for an evacuation.

While some said that an altercation was what caused the chaos, Atlanta Police Department confirmed that false gunshot report was the real cause of the mayhem. “It appears that someone in the crowd at the event located in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. and Central Ave. yelled that they heard gunshots,” they explained in a statement. “This caused people at the event to attempt to flee the location.”

Twelve people suffered minor injuries such as ankle injuries and lacerations from attempting to jump fences, but no serious injuries appear to have been reported. Police is currently investigating the case as there isn’t any evidence found to support claims that shots were fired.

Weezy himself has broken his silence regarding the report, wishing that everybody got away from the area safely. “Hope everyone at A3C is safe!!” he said along with a prayer hands emoji.

The festival, which also featured Wu-Tang Clan, was meant to be a huge celebration for Weezy. His long-delayed album “Tha Carter V” debuted atop Billboard 200 chart with a whooping 480,000 equivalent album units. It registered as the third-largest sales week for an album in 2018 in addition to earning the second-biggest streaming ever posted by an album. The set racked up 325,000 SEA units, which translated to 433 million on-demand audio streams.
