Lady Gaga fans go wild as star announces next huge role in upcoming Joker film

Lady Gaga has made a huge announcement which made Twitter explode after she revealed the details of an upcoming project.

The singer has dabbled in acting, taking on the role of the Countess in the fifth series of American Horror Story and Patrizia Gucci in 2021’s House of Gucci.

She is intending to broaden her acting career as she is set to star alongside Jaoquin Phoenix in the second instalment of the Joker franchise.

Joker: Folie A Deux is set to be released on October 4, 2024 and Gaga announced the incredible news to her fans, who she affectionately refers to as “Little Monsters”, via a tweet.

Gaga simply shared a tweet of the teaser video for the film and added the date of its release, which drove fans wild.

The short video was only 18 seconds long and showed shadows of Jaoquin’s character Arthur Fleck and Lady Gaga’s new role as they held each other.

The name of the film flashed up in bold black text against a dark red background and along with the words “Phoenix” and “Gaga”.

Eager followers replied to her post and one excited wrote: “Congratulations, Gaga. So proud of you. We will be supporting you forever,” and added a heart eyed emoji.

Another added: “I’m in shock, I can’t believe it's real.”

One concerned fan asked her to “look after her mental health while filming” for the movie and another simply wished her “endless love and happiness”.

The star has had a turbulent year after her dogs were stolen in February 2021.

Attackers shot dog walker Ryan Fischer and whilst he was fighting for his life after being shot in the chest, the gunmen took Gaga’s dos Koji and Gustav.

James Howard Jackson, 19, was then “accidentally released” in what the US Marshals Service called a “clerical error”, but five months after their mistake he has now been arrested once more.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department offered a reward of up to $5,000 (£4,105) to anyone who could provide information in the lead up to his arrest.

They also described him as “armed and dangerous”.
