Harry Styles caught in controversy as fans adamant he ‘spit’ in Chris Pine’s lap

Fans have been left rather taken aback after a video emerged of Harry Styles appearing to spit into his co-star Chris Pine's lap as he took a seat next to him at the Venice Film Festival.

The Former One Direction singer, who appears alongside Chris in the film Don't Worry Darling, caused an uproar amongst social media users after some seemed to think that he deliberately slobbered over the actor in front his girlfriend, Olivia Wilde.

While 42 year old Chris clapped for Harry as he took his seat next to him, the American actor appeared to stop himself in his tracks as the bizarre incident took place.

Chris then takes an amusing look back at Harry, 28, who is busy adjusting his jacket and smiling to those around the room.

Although it is not entirely clear what took place between the two men, fans have been left in shock, with some convinced that the singer-turned-actor did indeed aim spit into Chris' lap during the prestigious event.

While others seem to think that Chris may have been fiddling with his glasses which were in his lap at the time to the encounter took place.

Taking to Twitter, fans have shared their thoughts on what they think took place between the pair during the brief but strange moment.

One person wrote: "I have watched the video of harry styles and Chris pine at least 20 times from both angles and I personally do not see him spit at all. I think it was the way he moved and his facial expression?"

Another penned: "Did you see this? Harry styles spit on Chris Pine. Yeah, it's true. People are dissecting the footage looking for a second spitter but apparently it only came from one direction."

While a third said: "#HarryStyles appears to spit on Chris Pine i won't sleep until I know the truth."

A fourth said: "Did Harry Styles just spit on Chris Pine?!"

Fans are left completely torn over the blunder, with some thinking Chris' pause is because he thought he'd lost his sunglasses and then found them in his lap.

Neither Harry or Chris have commented publicly on the alleged incident since the footage emerged on social media platforms.

The news of the supposed spit comes after fans noticed tension between the two actors during an interview for their film.

While the pair took part in a question and answer session with Fred Film Radio in Venice, fans noticed that Chris appeared to "zone out" while Harry spoke passionately about the film Don't Worry Darling.
