Created in collaboration with his student Junelle Kunin, ‘Inner World’ features the Tibetan spiritual leader’s voice chanting mantras and prayers set to music.
AceShowbiz -Tibetan Buddhism’s spiritual leader the Dalai Lama is to mark his 85th birthday by releasing his first ever music album.
The record, “Inner World”, features the Dalai Lama’s voice chanting mantras and prayers set to music and will be released on July 6, the day he turns 85.
“Inner World” was created in collaboration with his student Junelle Kunin, who spent five years working with a small team to bring it to life alongside her husband, producer and songwriter, Abraham Kunin, and musicians including Anoushka Shankar who performs on the track, “Ama La”.
In a press release, the Buddhist leader says: “Music has the potential to transcend our differences. It can return us to our true nature of good-heartedness.”
Net proceeds from the sales of Inner World will go to The Dalai Lama Foundation’s chosen educational and spiritual programmes.
A track from the album, “Compassion”, which features the Dalai Lama reciting the mantra of the Buddha of Compassion, debuted on Tuesday, June 09.
