Former Pop Idol winner Gareth Gates has publicly serenaded his girlfriend, Coronation Street‘s Faye Brookes, after the pair reunited as a couple.
Following their split in September, Gareth was seen singing Faye a version of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’ at the Altrincham Christmas lights switch-on over the weekend.
Before his performance, Metro reports that Gareth told the crowd: “I want to dedicate this song to someone very special in my life – my girlfriend Faye. Some of you will know her from Coronation Street.”
Although they are visibly back together, Faye and Gareth announced their break-up via their official Twitter pages in September, with the former couple using the same statement.
Corrie‘s Faye wrote: “Unfortunately @Gareth_Gates and I are choosing to take some time apart.

The pair had been dating for around six years, after first meeting during a production of Legally Blonde back in 2012.

They were forced to deny recent tabloid reports that Gates’ so-called ‘controlling’ behaviour was the reason behind their split, with a spokesperson calling the comments “baffling”.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
