Woman gets the 'ick' after man lets her pay for fourth date

A woman has divided the internet after asking whether her newest dating ick is valid.

Ashleigh Nekemen, from Brisbane, Australia, had already been on three dates with the man she’d been seeing when she asked him if he wanted to go to get massages together.

The pair went for the massages and paid for themselves, which she said was fine.

Afterwards, they went to buy sushi, and this is where things got a little bit awkward.

Valid ick or not? 🫠 #dating #datingstories #datingstorytime #datingadvice

‘When we pay, the lady asks how do we want to pay this bill and he straight up says “let’s split it”,’ Ashleigh said.

The bill came to £20 each, but the waitress was struggling to split the bill, so Ashleigh asked if it would be easier for them to pay together.

The pair had also split the bill on their previous dates, with him paying for dinner and her paying for arcade credits on their first date.

When the waitress said yes, Ashleigh waited a second to see if her date would offer to pay, but he didn’t.

Ashleigh paid and they left the restaurant, but things got worse when he didn’t offer to pay her back, or at least transfer his half of the money over.

‘So I have the ick now and he walks me to my car and goes in for a kiss and I make up an excuse like “Oh sorry I just ate sushi I’m not going to kiss you”,’ she continued.

‘Am I asking too much?

‘These are still the early dates, this is when you are meant to still be impressing me.’

The comments section was divided.

‘The ick is valid,’ wrote one TikTok user.

Another said: ‘Nah bin him off, it will only get worse.’

‘He didn’t want to pay for you but had no problem you paying for him….see ya!!!!’ another woman commented.

However, some people thought Ashleigh was being unreasonable.

‘“Bro, don’t kiss me. You have to pay for that privilege”. There’s the “ick”,’ wrote one person.

‘But you offered to do the “pay together” thing so obv you’re the one who has to pay it,’ said another.

However, the majority of people told Ashliegh to run, and, tbh, we think they’re valid.

While it’s no one’s responsibility to pay for somebody else’s food, offering to pay someone back for your half is literally just basic manners.
