This New Eyebrow Gel Made Me Break Up With My Go-To Pencil

Ever since I first discovered I could fill in the sparse spots in my brows, I’ve been reaching for an eyebrow pencil. Ergonomic in shape with a precise tip that draws on natural, hair-like strokes, I’ve never found a wax, pomade, or gel that could compete with my go-to pencil — well, that is until Anastasia Beverly Hills’ latest eyebrow innovation, the DIPBROW Gel, landed on my desk.

Truthfully, this brow gel has convinced me to (temporarily) break up with my beloved eyebrow pencil because it creates fluffy, full eyebrows that actually look 100 percent natural.

A testament to the brand’s approach to launching quality products that yield results, this is the first eyebrow launch from Anatasia Beverly Hills in three years. That’s a bit surprising, yes, because before the matte lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes, and powder-based highlighters, the brand originally launched with only eyebrow products.

But this $18 gel, available in an impressive 11 different shades (most brow pencils come in like, seven), was worth the three-year wait.

It’s a very high-pigmented formula, so you don’t have to combo it with a pencil in order to get a robust brow look. This singular brow product imparts pigment, fills in sparse spots with hair-like strokes, and sets your brow look in place. That 3-in-1 win alone justifies the price.

Most eyebrow gels that I’ve tried have a rather large spoolie, so when you apply the product, the pigment smears outside of the actual brow. This spoolie, however, is small enough so you can apply it without having to worry about cleaning up messes. However, I would recommend cleaning some of the product off the brush before applying, as the bristles hold on to a ton of pigment, and it’s always easier to build rather than take off.

It’s also waterproof and wears for up to 12 hours, so my brows look better than any other product on my face by the end of the day.

But out of all the benefits, I think the hair color shade range is my favorite. As an unnatural blonde who’s transitioning back to a brunette, it’s proven difficult to find an eyebrow product that looks like it belongs on my face. Soft Brown complements my skin tone — and my grown-in roots.

I can’t say I won’t ever pick up my pencil again, but for now, this gel has won over my heart. Or, well, my brows.
