A California man was sent into a pure panic after his girlfriend texted him a picture of a thermometer — and he mistook it for a positive pregnancy test.
His girlfriend, who shared the story from the Twitter handle @VNSAMRE, was running a fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit 37.78 degrees Celcius) and sent a photo of the thermometer screen to her beau.
Immediately, he sent back a string of texts, freaking out and complaining that he didn’t understand how she could get pregnant while on birth control.

‘I had a fever lastnight and my boyfriend thought the thermometer was a pregnancy test,’ VNSAMRE wrote with two crying-from-laughing emojis.

She included a screengrab of the iMessage exchange, which starts with a photo of her thermometer clocking in at 100.0°F.
But her ‘baby’ clearly didn’t look too closely, and quickly texted back: ‘How
‘Wtf.
‘Your on birth control.
‘Baby.’
He seems to have sent an even longer text after that, though it wasn’t included in the screenshot.
Presumably, VNSAMRE rushed to put him out of his misery and reassure him that she was running a fever, not carrying a fetus.
Since she posted the exchange on February 5, her tweet has been liked over 162,000 times, and has also racked up hundreds of funny replies.

‘Comes down to… he’s not ready for a child babygirl,’ wrote another — to which VNSAMRE replied: ‘I’m not either so it’s ok.’
‘If I was with a dude that couldn’t tell the difference between a thermometer and a pregnancy test…I’d be eating birth control like M&Ms,’ tweeted another woman.
‘I have been really sick lately. nurse at VA said it was the flu. thermometer said 103 on Saturday,’ wrote yet another, prompting others to jokingly congratulate her on her 103 babies and being 103 per cent pregnant.
When one woman pointed out that VNSAMRE’s boyfriend used ‘your’ when he should have written ‘you’re,’ one man replied: ‘The dude thought a thermometer was a pregnancy test, the last thing I would expect from him is the proper use of that word.’
