Travelling to a new city can be exhilarating, but there are some places where it’s not a great idea to be a fish out of water.
It’s important to do your research about where you’re travelling to no matter where you’re going, but if you’re after a particularly safe place to go, there’s an expert-curated list of gorgeous places that make for great globe-trotting inspo.
By looking at factors like the costs of hotels and local friendliness, the team at Planet Cruise compiled a ranking of the safest holiday destinations all over the globe.
Their results found that Tokyo took the top spot, followed by Prague and then Beijing in third place.
Asian locations did well overall, with Hanoi, Vietnam coming in fourth and Shanghai, China nabbing fifth place.

You’ll want to get an IC card – Japan’s version of London’s Oyster cards – and use it to check out the city’s famous bar scene.
We also recommend checking out the slick Pullman Tokyo Tamachi, which you’ll find in a former warehouse district, just a few metres from the delightful Tokyo Port sake brewery.
If you want to save a bit of money, you could do a lot worse than Japan’s street food – keep an eye out for tempura and ramen dishes, which will cost you about £1.50 per serving.
