Six telltale body language signs there’s no royal rift between Kate and Harry

The rumours of a royal rift have dogged the Sussexes and Cambridges in recent weeks.

But a body language expert is suggesting that if anyone has fallen out – it's not Prince Harry and Kate Middleton.

The Prince and the Duchess appeared side-by-side today for an Anzac Day service at Westminster Abbey.

Today marks the anniversary of the start of the WWI Gallipoli landings and is a national day of remembrance for Britain's Commonwealth comrades in Australia and New Zealand.

The show of unity comes amid rumours of a royal split.

The Sussexes have recently moved to Frogmore Cottage , where they are expected to start their new family life.

Royal biographer Katie Nicholl has recently published a new book analysing the relationship between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle , who are expecting the arrival of their first child imminently.

The author has claimed that the Duke of Sussex and Prince William's relationship began to sour around the time Harry started dating Meghan.

Speaking to Fox News, Nicholl claimed William expressed some concerns over the new romance, and Harry did not take it well.

She told the programme "protective" William may have been looking out for his younger brother.

"William was concerned about how quickly the relationship had moved and wanted to make sure that Harry was making the right decision.

"What was intended as well-meaning, brotherly concern and a bit of advice went down quite badly with Harry, who felt William wasn't being as supportive as he might have been."

However the royal biographer also told Fox she thinks the relationship is likely to have grown on William over time.

Whatever is going on between the brothers and their glamorous wives, expert Judi James has read Kate and Harry's body language at today's Anzac ceremonies – and she is certain that there is no rift between them.

Head closeness

"As Harry and Kate walk into the service they dip their heads together, suggesting trust and strong rapport. Anyone performing friendship rather than feeling it would tend to hold back to study the other person’s face.

Mirroring

"From the pace of their walk to their twinned smiles, Kate and Harry’s synchronicity suggests like-minded thinking. It’s hard to mimic postural echo and make it look as natural as this.

Eye contact

"The eyes really do reveal our innermost thoughts so when someone is pretending to get on well with someone they have a problem with or dislike the eye contact is usually darting and sporadic.

"Harry and Kate used sustained eye contact here though, even when they were walking and they appear to use it to spark off one another in terms of their laughter.

Their body language looks exactly how it always used to

"While it’s possible to be either over-congruent or incongruent when you’re masking genuine emotions it can be the hardest thing to ‘perform’ your normal displays.

"Harry and Kate always used to look like this together and if there had been any rift between them I would expect to see one of them at least trying too hard to look friendly if they were performing a PR display.

"These poses are very much business as usual though.

Their smiles

"Kate has a pitch-perfect smile that she could easily have used to cover any tension behind the scenes but her open-mouth grin here looks like genuine delight.

"Harry’s smile also looks congruent. Fake smiling usually entails too much tooth-baring and rigid lips.

"Harry has rounded cheeks though and a fun eye expression while there are even dimples visible above his beard.

Would Harry bother faking?

"We saw no sign of Harry trying to grin and chat alongside William at Easter but he did lean across to chat to Kate.

"If he’d wanted to do any PDAs it might have been with his brother last week. I’m not sure he’s in the mind to just fake it for the cameras."
