'RHOBH' Alum Giggy Dead: Bravo Stars Mourn Lisa Vanderpump's Dog

Lisa Vanderpump is one of the former stars of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. There are a couple of things that the reality star is known for: her love of the color pink and her pet dog Giggy. The latter became an icon of reality TV and set the standard for other famous pets from The Real Housewives world. Vanderpump shared the devastating news with her fans announcing Giggy had died.

“We are devastated to say that our beloved Giggy has passed away this morning,” Vanderpump posted on her verified Instagram account. “He was truly loved, and we know how many of you loved him too.”

Giggy was short for Gigolo and was often featured on RHOBH, becoming a star on his own right.

“Our sweet Gigolo was such an incredible, unique dog, but mainly, because of him, we started The Vanderpump Dog Foundation and embarked on our mission to save as many dogs as possible,” Vanderpump continued. “He inspired us to start our work in rescue, and for that, we will always be grateful. Giggy’s legacy will live on, through every dog Vanderpump Dogs saves. Thank you all for your support. Rest In Peace Giggy, we love you.”

Vanderpump signed the note on behalf of her husband Ken Todd as well.

Bravo celebrities react to Giggy’s death

News of Giggy’s death quickly made headlines and the stars of Bravo came into Vanderpump’s post to express their condolences.

Andy Cohen, the executive producer of The Real Housewives, said: “Giggy was the First Dog of Bravo. Truly love at first sight for the cutest pup we’d ever seen. RIP beautiful Gigolo.”

Tom Schwartz from Vanderpump Rules also commented saying, “RIP Giggy, you were loved [by] many and brought so much joy to the world.”

Schwartz’s wife Katie Maloney also expressed her sympathies adding, “RIP Giggy, you were and will always be iconic.”

Difficult year for Lisa Vanderpump

Vanderpump has not had an easy year this year. After the pandemic hit, her restaurants were forced to shut down. The restaurant and bar business has been heavily hit as coronavirus has been difficult to control. California has some of the strictest measures to protect the health of its citizens and Vanderpump was impacted first-hand.

Back in July, Vanderpump made the difficult decision to close down for good her restaurant Villa Blanca, located in the heart of Beverly Hills.

“Although there have been many untrue articles in the past week or so about the reasons for closing Villa Blanca, we are indeed going to be closing up our doors for good,” she told Daily Mail.

Vanderpump explained that her landlord did not budge on negotiating a new contract given the circumstances of the pandemic.

“If the landlord had been willing to renegotiate and the lease wasn’t ending, we would have reopened, but unfortunately with Coronavirus, the situation was beyond our control,” Vanderpump added.

Villa Blanca had been part of the Beverly Hills community for 12 years. The former RHOBH star said that she was hopeful that she would be able to open the same concept in a different location in the future.

On top of the restaurant closure, Vanderpump’s hit show Vanderpump Rules was placed on an extended hiatus. Bravo made the decision to fire four cast members from the series due to racist actions. The show is expected to film another season but there’s no word yet as to when that will be.
