Princess Diana looks at her happiest and most relaxed as she poses alongside her young children in these startlingly intimate photographs.
The pictures, taken by a young Prince William and Prince Harry , were taken at Highgrove during a visit of Diana's close friend and confident Carolyn Bartholomew and son Jack back in 1989.
The joyful photos were taken a couple of years before her marriage to Prince Charles broke down over cheating allegations.
In one shot, a delighted Diana looks mischievously into the camera while wearing a casual pink jumper and a pair of white shorts.
The next image hows seven-year-old William as he squeezes between his mother and her best friend.
It is believed the were taken on a camera owned by Jack's nanny Mary Bruce, and remained hidden in a box alongside Ms Bruce's other personal keepsakes for over 18 years.
They emerged in 2007 after they were bequeathed to her best friend Isabella Paton's son, Norrie, who then decided to sell them.
He said: "Diana has been pictured so many times, but these are special.
"Mary was a family friend for many years and I first saw the pictures when I was visiting my mother's house in 1989. Mary was there, and showed them to us.
"I said they would be a great memento and I would love to have them. She laughed and said, "You can have them when I'm gone – when I won't need them any more."
During her memorial, Prince William described her as the "best mother in the world" and this portrait seem to show the unique bond between the prince and their mother.
In an ITV documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life And Legacy, Harry reminisced about what a fun mum she was .
He said: "She would come and watch us play football and smuggle sweets into our socks.
"Behind closed doors she was a very loving caring mother, and an incredibly funny person. A total kid, through and through."
