Premier League fantasy football: How to get the best out of your team in 2020

The recent run of Premier League games over this busy festive period has made fantasy football especially tricky, hasn’t it?

But hopefully your Dream Team is in reasonably good shape as we dive into 2020.

So to make sure this year continues to be a healthy and happy one for your team, we’ve looked at three New Year’s resolutions we think you should follow.

1 Trust in Traore

Wolves winger Adama Traore is the name on everybody’s lips at the moment after a scintillating run of form, and we think he’s well worth a place in your team in the new year.

The Spaniard has been a complete joy to watch at times over Christmas and was the linchpin behind the Wanderers brilliant comeback win over Man City — netting the home side’s first goal before setting up the equaliser in a famous 3-2 victory.

But above that, the speed-demon is excellent value for your Dream Team, especially ahead of this Friday (January 3) when your monthly transfers reset.

He costs just £3.1m on the game despite being ranked as the 10th best player in our rankings — ahead of a host of big names including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Riyad Mahrez and Sergio Aguero.

2 Avoid top six tunnel-vision

We all know that the players in the Prem’s tradition ‘top six’ are generally a lot pricier, so you sometimes have to pick one or two cheaper options from clubs lower down the table.

But there’s plenty of in-form bargain options knocking around at the moment, including Danny Ings, Raul Jiemenz, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the aforementioned Traore.

You’ve just got to shop around a bit, and maybe take the odd gamble or two.

3 Be wary of Man United’s upturn in form

It’s been a brilliant end to 2019 for United fans, with Ole’s side teasing the top four places thanks to back-to-back wins over Newcastle and Burnley.

What’s more, Marcus Rashford is one of the best players on Dream Team this term with 163 points, while Mason Greenwood is shaping up to be one of the game’s best bargains at just £2m.

But we’ve all seen how inconsistent United can be in recent weeks; with the Red Devils boasting wins over Man City and Spurs, but also losing out to the likes of Bournemouth and Watford.

Defensively the team still looks fairly weak, with Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka failing to live up to their Dream Team price-tags so far.

Steer clear for now, especially considering United’s upcoming run of fixtures which includes tricky games against Wolves, Man City and Liverpool.
