If you’re late to the party, Normal People, BBC Three’s adaptation of Sally Rooney’s best-selling book, follows the love story of Marianne and Connell as they navigate from school into adulthood.
And Paul Mescal, the actor who plays Connell, (and the nation’s newest crush) has been the name on everyone’s lips since the series started.
Paul, 24, who recently gushed over his co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones, notes Normal People down to be his first major TV role, and it’s sure to be the first of many big roles for the young, talented actor.
Even the chain that Paul’s character Connell wears on screen has its own Instagram account (@connellschain) with 30,000 followers and counting! So, you can imagine our delight when we stumbled across an advert of the 24 year old promoting Denny’s sausages, filmed in 2018.

Paul’s character in the advert is a little different to Normal People’s Connell, who is known to be a deep thinker and quite a quiet chap.
The 24 year old plays the role of a son in the ad and can be seen listening to his dad whilst he talks about Denny founder, Henry Denny, whilst biting into a sausage.

As a result, the son decides he wants to “seize the Denny” and go travelling himself, and heads to the Irish town of Ballyhaunis on the back of a bus in the bizarre scenes.
Of course, Paul Mescal fans are totally loving it, with one saying: “Imagine being Paul Mescal going from the Denny’s sausage ad to being the star of the show on Kourtney Kardashians insta story,” wrote one fan.

And another added: “It’s funny to see Paul Mescal go from the “Ballyhaunis” Denny Sausages ad lad in 2019, to Ireland’s biggest sex symbol in 2020.”
A third said: "If you didn’t want Paul Mescal at his Denny sausages then you don’t deserve him at his Normal People."

Paul recently spoke about the steamy sex scenes in the show, which are on everyone’s lips right now.
When asked about his thoughts of how the scenes were shot, he said: “It didn’t feel like we were shooting it for it to be full nudity; the camera picks it up incidentally, but it doesn’t feel like we are hiding anything from it.
“I would have far more issues about getting naked if I didn’t believe the story supported it.”
