Mum-of-8 becomes grandmother at youthful age of 40 and says it’s ‘amazing’

A mum-of-eight is now a grandmother after her eldest daughter welcomed a baby boy into the world.

Birmingham Mail reports Marie Buchan, 40, who lives in a housing association property in Selly Oak, revealed she now has a grandson called Jayden.

The new – but youthful – grandmother has eight children between the ages of 10 and 22.

Marie said: "My oldest daughter who is 22 has just given birth to a lovely boy who she has named Jayden.

"Becoming a nan is amazing and the Buchan family grows.

"He is five weeks old now.

"It makes me feel old being a grandmother at the age of 40 but life passes so fast."

The proud mum recently told of how she had to turn to food banks this year in a desperate bid to try and get through the winter as the cost-of-living worsens for many.

A few months back she also called for anonymous social media accounts to be banned to try and bring an end to trolling.

She admitted she had fallen victim to online abuse, and said anonymous accounts targeted her for years.

The commenters post nasty comments about Marie simply because she has eight children and is claiming benefits.

Marie said she receives dozens of such messages every week from anonymous accounts, and people say things like she's a "s***".

Some have even claimed they "hope she dies".

Marie is on benefits, but is in the process of looking for employment.
