Make the most of the brighter days ahead with our money-saving tips

WE’RE probably all a tad grumpy after losing an hour’s sleep – but the clocks going forward is just the wake-up call we need.

The start of British Summer Time means longer evenings are on the way. So make the most of the brighter days ahead with my savvy tips to help put your BeST foot forward . . .

STEP TO IT: Use the extra daylight to get out and about. I know many of us were going for more walks during lockdown, but with the weather being pretty grim recently, I’ve found it hard to muster the motivation to get out after work.

Get the most out of your evening walks with a pair of comfy trainers. Sportsdirect.com’s sale includes Gelert horizon low walking shoes for £24.99, down from £49.99. They’re waterproof, too — perfect if we see April showers.

SAVING: £25

PERK UP: When you first “lose” that hour in the morning you may be feeling a little more tired.

Give yourself a caffeine kick on the cheap with Nescafe Azera Intenso instant coffee, just £2.74, usually £5.49, when purchased with a Clubcard at Tesco. After all, you want to be able to stay up come the brighter evening.

SAVING: £2.75

GARDEN CHAIR: Hanging egg chairs were all the rage last summer — and it looks like they’re back for this year, with a bargain options from Aldi selling out in minutes earlier this month.

But the Singapore hanging egg chair at Dunelm, £199, is still available. It looks just as comfy and is far cheaper than similar sold at The Range for £299.99.

SAVING: £100.99

CHEERS TO THAT: Lighter evenings call for cocktails, in my book. Make like a pro and whip up your favourite tipple with a proper cocktail set.

I really like the Barware 15-piece cocktail bar tool set, sold at Wayfair.co.uk for £19.99, down from £24.99. Similar sets are £27.99 on Amazon, too.
