Bob Saget Breaks His Silence on 'Full House' Co-Star Lori Loughlin's College Admissions Scandal

Bob Saget is breaking his silence about his former Full House co-star’s college admissions scandal. During an interview on the Today show on April 24, he shared some thoughts about Lori Loughlin’s legal problems. He also offered words of support for the actress. Loughlin has pleaded not guilty to fraud and money laundering charges. She faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted.

Saget says he loves Loughlin

When Craig Melvin asked Saget about Loughlin’s case, he seemed a bit hesitant to talk about it. At first, he said he was “underqualified” to offer his opinion. But he quickly explained that he still thinks of Loughlin fondly.

“I will say that I love her and I will say that, no comment,” the comedian said. He went on to say, “It’s a personal thing, it’s a personal thing … it’s a strange time … and, what do you say?”

Earlier this month, Saget and Loughlin’s Full House colleague Candace Cameron Bure said she was praying for the actress, who she described as “family” and a “dear and close friend.”

Even Martha Stewart is weighing in on the controversy

The college scandal that has engulfed Loughlin and her husband designer Mossimo Giannulli is big news. Even design and cooking guru Martha Stewart — who knows a thing or two about white-collar crime — is weighing in.

“I just feel sorry for them,” Stewart said in a red carpet interview with ET at the Time 100 Gala at Lincoln Center. “They might have made a bad mistake.”

In a previous interview, Stewart offered some words that might be encouraging to Loughlin and Felicity Huffman, who has already pleaded guilty to fraud. The Martha Stewart Living founder said she thought the stars would “definitely” be able to bounce back and return to work in Hollywood after a time. Loughlin was fired from Fuller House and the Hallmark Channel drama When Calls the Heart after news of her alleged involvement in the admissions scheme came out.

Loughlin doesn’t think she did anything wrong

According to tabloid reports, Loughlin is in denial that she did anything wrong. Allegedly, the actress paid $500,000 to a fake charity in order to ensure that her two daughters, Isabella Rose and Olivia Jade, would be admitted to the University of Southern California as crew recruits.

A source told US Weekly that Loughlin’s husband was the one who promoted the scheme, and that she was simply following his lead.

“Her husband presented this to her like it wasn’t an illegal thing she was doing,” the source said.

The source added that friends and family are trying to explain to Loughlin that there is a serious chance she could go to prison. However, she still hasn’t grasped the reality of her situation. Another source told the magazine that Loughlin’s friends are blaming Giannulli for the entire mess.

“Everyone feels bad for her,” an insider said. “They think the situation was something concocted by her husband.”

“Her friends don’t like him,” the source added.
