‘The year of the family’: Pink reveals plans to take a year off music in 2020 at 2019 CMAs

Following the release of her eighth album in April, pop star Pink says she’s going to take a year off music to focus on family.

The singer, who brought the whole Hart clan – 8-year-old Willow, 2-year-old Jameson and husband Carey – to the Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday night, opened up about the decision to take a step back from work in 2020.

“We did two and a half years (of music) and Willow’s back in school now,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Jameson’s going to start preschool soon. It’s kind of the year of the family. And Carey has a lot going on as well. He’s super supportive, he follows me around the world and now it’s his turn.”

Pink added that it was “awesome” for her kids to be able to witness the CMAs’ female-centric celebration. Hosted by Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire, country music’s biggest night also saw over 40 prominent stars perform, accept or present awards.

“It’s the dream,” she said. “(My kids) just make it fun for me. They have so much fun. There’s just so much to see and it’s really cool… There are so many girls here tonight, it’s going to be so fun. It’s like the night of the women, I love it.”

Pink gets candid about life as a mom on tour: ‘There’s a reason why moms don’t do this’

Last month, the singer opened up about the toll traveling around the world on her “Beautiful Trauma” tour had on her as a mom.

“There have been many times when I have been sitting in the corner of arena bathrooms crying and saying to myself, ‘There’s a reason why women don’t do this, there’s a reason why moms don’t do this,’ because it’s (expletive) impossible at times,” she told Billboard.

“The last couple of months, Willow was over it. She wants to be home and do BMX and swim team and gymnastics and all the (expletive) that an 8-year-old wants to do,” the singer added. “So she was asking to go home, and that’s when I knew: From here on out, it changes.”
