Everyone’s favorite Ryan (what? Yep, fighting words), Ryan Reynolds, has two kids with his wife, Blake Lively — and he doesn’t hesitate to admit that daughters James, 4, and Inez, 2, have transformed him for the better. But also, he kind of misses being a shithead.
Aw, Ryan. Don’t we all.
During a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Reynolds told DeGeneres that although fatherhood has “kind of made me a better person, I think” — he also misses the person he was before. In fact, Reynolds joked, “I sort of miss being horrible.”
Of course, it didn’t take long for Reynolds to admit he was kidding. Parenting “is hard. It’s always a challenge with two kids… but it’s a dream,” he said. “They’re the best. They’re my buddies. I love it.”
Reynolds was on Ellen to promote his upcoming film, Once Upon a Deadpool — a recut “family-friendly” version of Deadpool 2. Yeah, we’re scratching our heads at family-friendly Deadpool too.
“I get a lot of parents who come up who say to me, ‘Are they ever going to do a PG-13 version of Deadpool? ‘Cause parents and adults, myself included, want content that they can watch with their kids that’s also entertaining for you. And that’s what this version of Deadpool is,” he explained.
When the film hits theaters on Dec. 12, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Fuck Cancer — a nonprofit that’s “dedicated to prevention, early detection and providing emotional support and guidance to those affected by cancer.”
“That’s why I’m so excited about the Deadpool 2‘s PG-13 cut,” Reynolds told DeGeneres, “because not only is it an incredibly entertaining movie, but it’s for a great cause.”
Know what else is incredibly entertaining? Reynolds’ and Lively’s passive-aggressive-hilarious Instagram antics. Keep it up, you two.
