Olivia Munn Marks One Year With Baby Malcolm: 'My Son, My Joy'

Olivia Munn and John Mulaney’s son Malcolm is one! The happy parents celebrated the milestone with their little one at a beachside location over the weekend. Posting a series of fun images showing their son and his smash cake, Olivia wrote an incredibly sweet caption. “Just got back from celebrating ONE YEAR of the most joyful baby being in this world and in our lives,” she commented on Instagram. “My son, my joy. Happiest Birthday Malcolm Hiệp! I love you so so so much.”

The carousel of images showed Malcolm wearing a sweet knit crown with the number one on it, which had been knitted by Olivia’s mother. It was the perfect topper in which to dig into his vanilla cake with chocolate icing. He was wearing a white shirt which was quickly covered in icing and cake remnants; even dad John, who was holding Malcolm, was covered in bits of cake by the end of the celebration. John reflected on the magnitude of the day, saying in one video posted to social media, “Crazy. Malcolm … no second nap. And this much cake!”

Olivia first posted a handful of pictures with one video at the end of the gallery, which showed Malcolm in action gurgling and digging into his cake. But apparently some viewers thought the little one had actually uttered a full sentence: “I love you!” (We are not sure if that was directed to his parents or the cake!)

Olivia later posted the video solo on her Instagram feed, writing, “I posted this in a carousel and then someone commented that they heard him say ‘I love you’ and that is the first time I heard it too! Could it be???” Whether or not Olivia happened to catch Malcolm’s first full sentence on video, he is well on his way toward speaking. Olivia previously shared on Instagram that, “his first word was Daddy/Dada, his second word was chó (Vietnamese for dog), and his third word is car.”

A number of Olivia and John’s famous friends were quick to hop into the discussion with their well wishes. Mindy Kaling was a wonderful friend with the words, “Yay he’s the best!!! And happy one year of being a mom!” Joanna Swisher-Garcia wrote, “Happy birthday Malcolm! We love you!” Amanda Seales, meanwhile, left the comment, “He looks happy and loved as all babies should be.”

The happy family marked the sweet milestone after what’s been an adventurous year. Olivia shared about her breastfeeding journey, and that Malcolm has been teething in recent months, too.
