Matthew McConaughey Took His Son to See South Korean Boy Band BTS: We 'Broke a Sweat Dancing'

There was no “Fake Love” on Matthew McConaughey‘s part as a fan when he took his son to see “his favorite band,” BTS — in fact, he may have had even more fun than the birthday boy!

In a chat on Monday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the Serenity star revealed he and wife Camila Alves took their oldest child, the musically inclined Levi, to see the K-pop boy band in Dallas in honor of the boy’s 10th birthday last summer.

“[BTS is] South Korean, and my son’s walking around the house months before he wants to go to this concert and he knows all the songs. He was rapping Korean,” said McConaughey, 49. “So he wanted to go for his birthday. We took a couple of his friends, Camila and I went, and we loaded [them] up — we had a blast.”

“We got out of our seats, we got right down in the pit and broke a sweat dancing,” he added. “It was fun.”

Between fun family outings, McConaughey and Alves, 36, have their hands full with their three kids — perhaps most with their youngest child, 6-year-old son Livingston.

“They’re different kids of handfuls,” the actor told DeGeneres of Livingston, Levi and their sister Vida, 9. “[Livingston]’s a literal handful, meaning he’s the comedian as well as he’s the bruiser. He sometimes doesn’t like to use his words enough to get his point across.”

“He gets a little of that from me, sometimes, maybe. I like to wrestle,” admits the father of three with a laugh. “So we have a wrestling mat. When you come in the door, that’s what we have out there, so if anyone’s got really something that they want to contest and they don’t wanna talk about it — let’s go up on the wrestling mat, gang.”

DeGeneres, 60, teased her guest that it’s “not fair” for McConaughey to wrestle his son given their size disparity, but the actor was quick to clarify how things really went down on a regular basis.

“I’m the one that comes out of it, usually, the one that’s got the bruises!” he joked.

Serenity opens in theaters nationwide on Friday.
