The formula for the 'perfect' BBQ has been revealed

Things are heating up again in the UK as it looks like the pleasant weather is here to stay for August.

Prolonged sunshine is the perfect time to get the BBQ up and running – but what’s the key to the ultimate grill session?

Well, a new formula has shed light on the ‘perfect BBQ’ – and it involves some very specific elements.

According to a poll of 2,000 adults, 2pm is the perfect time to kick one off and 22 degrees is the ideal temperature for the event.

That’s not all, this BBQ should last four hours in total and be held in a picturesque garden setting.

In terms of headcount, eight guests is the best number (and most manageable) – according to the research.

Now, for the all-important part: the food. It seems most would expect hot dogs, steaks, drumsticks and burgers from a BBQ – although, nearly one in five (18%) would opt for kebabs, while 15% like to see fish as an option.

One in four also state that coleslaw is a requirement for such an event, while 22% enjoy a potato salad.

Plus, a white burger bap is the favourite (21%) in terms of bread, followed by a brioche bun (13%).

The research, commissioned by Warburtons, also named ketchup as the top condiment (at 37%), followed by barbeque sauce and mayonnaise (31% each).

More men said they preferred to host a BBQ, compared to women, but a quarter of them admitted they regularly end up burning the food.

Perhaps if they follow the ‘winning’ formula above, guests may not mind so much.
