Tesco has recalled two popular protein powders because they may contain small pieces of metal. No receipt is required to return the product to a Tesco store of your choice.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a risk statement regarding the food recall.
It stated: “These products may contain small pieces of metal which makes them unsafe to eat.”
The FSA assured Tesco shoppers that the supermarket was taking action to ensure that customers are safe.
It stated: “Tesco is recalling the above products from customers. The company has also issued a recall to its customers.
“These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”
Tesco’s notice reads: “We have been made aware that specific batch codes of 2 flavours of Tesco Active Flavoured Whey Protein 500g may contain small pieces of metal.
“Please do not consume these products and instead return any affected product to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.”
Tesco apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused and urged them to contact Customer Services on 0800 505 555 for further details if required.
The FSA echoed this: “If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them.
“Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund, no receipt is required.
“If you would like any further information, please contact Tesco Customer Relations on 0800 505 555.”
Food recalls are not common but should be taken seriously when they do occur.
The FSA explained why food products are occasionally removed from stores and online.
It stated: “If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).
“The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food.
“In some cases, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.”
