Jodie Whittaker’s final farewell as Doctor Who’s iconic Time Lord has been teased via the show’s social media with a brand new trailer.

It was also revealed that the long-awaited episode, dubbed Power Of The Doctor, will be released on October 23rd – meaning fans will only have to wait a matter of weeks to watch the dramatic finale.

The actress is set to bow out of the BBC sci-fi drama next month in the centenary special, after five years as the 13th, and first female Doctor.

Doctor Who’s new trailer shows Jodie being welcomed ‘to the end of your existence’, as she takes on her dramatic final battle.

The eponymous character will have to take on both Daleks and Cybermen in the episode, as the short trailer showed her frantically dodging laser beams. 

Sacha Dhawan, who plays The Master, can be seen telling the Doctor ‘This is the day you are erased forever’ in the trailer.

While a dalek incursion on earth is also teased, with the cast in an intense battle against the clock.

Mandip Gill, John Bishop, Sophie Aldred and Janet Fielding will also return to the screen alongside the star in the feature-length special. 

During the finale, the star will allegedly pay tribute to past Time Lords by wearing their iconic outfits throughout the feature-length episode. 

And reacting to the new trailer, fans on Twitter were sent into a frenzy, as one wrote: ‘IM NOT READY TO SAY GOODBYE TO JODIE / I DONT WANT HER TO GO.’

Jodie’s role will be taken over by Sex Education actor Ncuti Gatwa, as screenwriter Russell T. Davies also returns to the show.

Ncuti is set to be the first black doctor in the show’s history, once again marking a milestone for the long running BBC series. 

And during his run, the show will celebrate it’s 60th anniversary in 2023 – which will see the return of the beloved 10th doctor, David Tennant, who will appear alongside Katherine Jenkins.

Teasing the episode previously, Jodie explained to Empire Magazine: ‘It’s got all the iconic things that you associate with Doctor Who. It’s massive.’ 

And speaking on her looming departure from the screen, she admitted: ‘I cannot talk about it without crying. When I could see the crew was happy with that last shot, that’s when my bottom lip started going.

‘I was like “Well, they can’t say they need another take now because I’ve lost it!”‘ she jested.
