Taylor Swift’s autumn cookies are legendary amongst Swifties, as it is well known the singer likes to bake, but did you know the singer once baked a bunch of these iconic cookies for her fans?
In 2014, Taylor Swift held secret listening sessions for her 1989 album, which only a handful of fans were allowed to listen to. During the Nashville session, fans got to hang out with the singer and she served them her now-famous cookies. Fans quickly took to social media to beg the Folklore singer for the recipe, and since then they have become a popular cookie for Swifties to bake them in autumn.
Unfortunately, Taylor Swift’s posts on how to make these cookies have since been deleted, but some fans have managed to find the recipe, including baker Madison Eberhardt, who has grown in popularity online with her incredible baking skills on her TikTok account @mmatildabakes and her website mmatildabakes.
In an interview with the Express, Madison explained what made these cookies so good. She said: “These Taylor Swift Chai Sugar cookies are so special because they take the classic iced chai sugar latte into cookie form. Every Taylor Swift fan knows about this recipe that Taylor shared a long time ago and it is perfect for autumn.”
Madison added the cookie tastes like: “Chai spices like cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cloves are reminiscent of the cozy and comforting flavors associated with fall. Chai sugar cookies offer a flavorful twist on traditional sugar cookies. They provide a taste of something different and exciting while still maintaining the comforting elements associated with sugar cookies”.

To make the cookie dough, place the softened butter, oil, granulated sugar, powdered sugar, and egg into a bowl and mix until you have a smooth batter.
Next, sift in the salt, baking soda, and one tablespoon of chai spice and mix together. For the chai spice, you can either make it yourself by combining spices or simply use a chai teabag by opening it and pouring the contents into the bowl.
Continue to mix until a soft dough forms, and then place in the fridge for one hour to chill.
Preheat your oven to 180C (350F). Take the dough out of the fridge, roll it into 12 dough balls and then place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake the cookies for around 10 minutes, until they look golden brown. Once ready, take out the oven and leave to cool.
While the cookies are cooling down, make the frosting. Mix the powdered sugar, milk, and chai spice until a smooth frosting is formed. Once the cookies are cooled, decorate them by spreading them on the frosting.
Place back in the fridge so the frosting hardens on the cookie, and then your delicious Taylor Swift-approved cookies are ready to eat.
