Ina Garten Reveals Her 'All-Time Go-To Dinner' Recipe and It's Incredibly Easy to Make

It looks fancy, but only takes 30 minutes to whip up.

We love a good Ina Garten recipe (who doesn’t?), so when the Barefoot Contessa herself revealed her all-time go-to dinner, we took notice.

Garten recently took to Instagram to share a mouthwatering photo of crispy breaded chicken and a fresh side salad. She noted in the caption that the pictured meal was her signature Parmesan Chicken, the recipe for which can be found in her cookbook Barefoot Contessa: Family Style.

“If I had to choose my all-time go-to dinner (besides roast chicken!!) it would definitely be my Parmesan Chicken!” she wrote. “It’s a whole dinner on one plate – juicy, herb-breaded chicken with a cold lemony salad and shaved Parmesan on top. And the whole thing takes 30 minutes to prepare! How great is that?!” She posted a link to the recipe in her Instagram bio, urging her legion of followers to try it for themselves.

Like Garten said, the recipe should take only 30 minutes to make, and if you follow all of the instructions, it can serve six hungry friends and family members.

The recipe, which you can find for free online, gives instructions for both the chicken and a lemon vinaigrette to dress the side salad. Both are very simple, even for a beginning home cook.

For the chicken portion, breasts must be pounded using a meat mallet or rolling pin until they are ¼-inch thick (you can also have a butcher do this or buy pre-sliced chicken cutlets to make things even easier.)

Then, it’s a standard breading operation by coating the chicken in flour, then eggs, then a mixture of breadcrumbs and grated parmesan cheese. The breasts are then cooked in olive oil and butter for two to three minutes on both sides.

The lemon vinaigrette is even simpler: just whisk together ¼ cup lemon juice, ½ cup of good olive oil, ½ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper.
