MANY people know the pain of trying to work self checkout screens, especially if the text is tiny and hard to read.

A woman has revealed a secret hack which could make your shopping experience at Tesco much easier – and it’s perfect if you are shortsighted.

A woman named Ali, who posts under @sswcharity, revealed how to make the text much larger on their self-service checkout screens.

“Blind Ali” – as she refers to herself on TikTok – said: “Tesco self checkout hack.

“As you all know I fight for things to be made accessible and completely inclusive.

“I’m here in Tesco today using a self checkout which is, as we know, not the greatest thing to be accessible and often it’s quite fussy screens.

“Now look what I found in Tesco.”

Ali showed how you can click in the bottom right corner of the screen to change it to show “large text”.

She continued: “And it simplifies the text.

“It just makes it clearer, so that’s brilliant isn’t it?”

Tesco shared details of the change on their website, saying: “You can now enlarge the text at our self-service checkouts using a touch button on the bottom right of the screen. 

“This is the first step in making our checkouts more accessible.”

Tesco also offers free sunflower lanyards to customers with a hidden disability.

The website states: “If you’re wearing a Sunflower lanyard, our colleagues will understand that you have a hidden disability and that you may need a little extra help or time.”
