Should you serve Yorkshire puddings with Christmas dinner? The nation is divided

Lamb must be served with mint sauce, turkey always comes with a spoonful of cranberry and pork is dished up with crackling and lashings of apple sauce.

When it comes to beef the instructions are simple – gravy, horseradish (occasionally mustard if there’s no alternative) and a big crispy Yorkshire pudding.

But where do we stand when it comes to popping a Yorky on our Christmas plates?

It's a debate that's currently dividing the nation (and tends to crop up every year).

Does the festive season mean free food choices for one and all – or does this represent the slow decline into Christmas chaos?

Well if Twitter is anything to go by, us Brits just can't make our minds up.

There’s one logical school of thought who seems to think that if it takes good, why on earth wouldn’t you?

One Twitter user wrote: "On our table we have everything we know the family likes, so Yorkshire pudding stuffing, cranberry sauce, white sauce, even mint sauce, if they want it it’s on the table – it’s all about keeping everyone happy. It’s your Christmas Dinner, and let others do it their way."

Another admitted that Yorkshire puddings are "easily" their favourite part of the dinner, while one suggested eating your Christmas dinner out of a Yorky.

We previously told how Morrisons is doing a Christmas dinner wrapped in a Yorkshire pudding.

Aldi followed suit, selling an entire roast dinner inside a Yorky.

Meanwhile Lidl is selling a Yorkshire pudding wrap stuffed with three festive meats.
