Mum who couldn’t afford new carpet WALLPAPERED her floor for just £23 & people are praising the tip

HAVE you ever put off ripping up old, dirty carpet because of the expense involved in replacing it?

Well, fed up with her own, one mum found a much cheaper alternative by using wallpaper on her floor instead and people are praising her for the tip.

Clever mum Robyn Westrope-lane was looking for a temporary solution to fix her unsightly carpets and thought to use the brightly coloured timber-effect wallpaper.

The hallway was previously beige and boring but now it's a modern, vibrant space.

Sharing snaps of the hallway transformation to the DIY On A Budget UK Facebook group, she revealed that she'd spent a total of just £23 replacing her carpet – and she'd pretty chuffed with the results.

She wrote: "I did it! I wallpapered my floor and I’m stoked with the outcome. And only for £23!! It took me no time at all and seems quite sturdy. Few little accessories and rug to put down but here’s the before and after"

She also added that she's coated the entire surface with varnish to keep it from ripping after many people questioned it's durability.

Other DIY fans loved the flooring solution and even suggested she keep it long term, rather than it being a temporary fix.

The post has racked up hundreds of likes and comments with many surprised, and impressed, by the clever idea.

"Love it!! Very cool, just like decoupage," One person wrote," I've seen lots decoupage their stairs as well"

And another said: " Keep as is. Looks awesome in my opinion. great job."

Meanwhile a third wrote: "I would never have thought of this! I hope it wears well. Keep us posted"

"Bloody brilliant idea," a fourth said, " Some posts get literally thousands of likes and I'll never understand. This is fab hun. Well done."
