Mum reveals how to instantly deep clean the grime off your kettle – all you need is some lemons

HOW many cups of tea do you make a day? Three? Four? Maybe even five?

But even though we find ourselves at the high end of this scale, we can easily count the number of times we've cleaned our kettle in the past year on one hand.

Well if you've also found yourself with a grim build-up of limescale, then one savvy mum has revealed how you can easily get your kettle sparking again in no time.

Sharing the cleaning hack on her TikTok account, the Australian mum – known online as Mama Mila – revealed how she uses lemons to deep clean her kettle.

She said: "This is the natural, no-scrub way to rid kettle limescale."

In the viral clip, the mum starts by filling the kettle with water, adding a whole sliced lemon and boiling it twice.

After letting it sit for half an hour, she then pours the lemon water down the drain – and the inside of the kettle is left gleaming.

But how does it work? Well, the acidity of the lemons works to break downlimescale while also killing bacteria.

The clip has racked up over 96,000 views on TikTok – and cleaning fans are desperate to give it a go themselves.

One replied: "I just did this to my kettle. Amazing result. Thank you!"

Another suggested: "You can also put some ice cubes in, lemon, a bit of cold water and some sugar and swoosh it around."

Earlier this year, a woman shared incredible before-and-after photos of her burnt kettle after using chopped lemons to clean it.

Posting on the Facebook group Mums Who Clean, she wrote: "The odd time you pop your head inside the kettle and see how gross it is.

"Quick fix with a chopped lemon and let it boil!"
