IF the kids had it their way, they'd have McDonald's Happy Meals for dinner 365 days a year. No questions asked.
That said, most parents reserve the fast food chain's chicken nuggets and chips as a special treat… or at least, when you've got nothing else in the fridge for dinner.
However, one woman has sparked fierce debate online after she bought two children she was babysitting Happy Meals – only to discover that they were being raised vegetarian.
Posting on Reddit's 'Am I the A******' forum, the 19-year-old explained how she wanted to treat the nine-year-old boy and seven-year-old girl for good behaviour.
Describing how she has two years childcare experience, the American woman said: "This new family asked me to babysit their two children. They were really well behaved kids."
Before the children's mum left for the day, the woman claims she wasn't told anything about their dietary requirements.
The mum came home early and when she saw her children eating chicken nuggets, she literally ripped the nuggets out of their hands. She kicked me out without paying me and then later text me saying that I need to pay her £225 for each kid for the emotional damage I have caused them…
She continued: "When I asked what they wanted to eat they asked for a chicken nugget Happy Meals.
"Since they were so well behaved I decided to buy them the Happy Meals they wanted."
However, all hell broke loose when the mum returned home early and saw her little ones eating meat.
The woman wrote: "I had babysat for vegetarians before and made sure to respect their vegetarian diet and didn't even eat meat while babysitting for the families.
"The mum came home early and [when she saw her children eating chicken nuggets], she literally ripped the nuggets out of their hands."
What's more, the babysitter claims the mum started yelling at her for "allowing the children to eat dead corpses".
After being kicked out of the house without being paid, the babysitter says she then received a threatening text from the mother.
The woman continued: "She kicked me out without paying me and then later text me saying that I need to pay her [£225] for each kid for the emotional damage I have caused them."
Although the mother threatened to take her to court if she didn't pay, the babysitter added: "My dad and older brother are both lawyers so the threat didn't really scare me.
"I refused to pay the money and told her that she should've told me that she was vegetarian and I would've made sure to completely respect her family diet choice and since she didn't tell me it's not my fault.
"She said that I shouldn't just assure everyone eats meat."
Needless to say, the dilemma sparked furious debate in the forum – with most people siding with the babysitter.
One replied: "The only person who caused the children emotional damage is the mother. Not only did she rip the food out of their hands, she screamedat the babysitter and her kids. Sounds like her kids don't want to be vegetarian."
Another added: "She still owes you money for babysitting. I'd be willing to bet she has pulled this stunt before to get out of paying and maybe try to get some extra cash."
A third wrote: "In the future, if you continue working in childcare, make sure you always check about dietary restrictions when you started with a new family!!
"Ask up front if they have any allergies, or anything they're not allowed to eat. Also get some suggestions FROM THE PARENTS for what its ok to feed the kids."
