I'm a cleaning pro – simple homemade cleaning products will save you money and are even better than store-bought | The Sun

A CLEANING guru has revealed some simple homemade products that will save you money and are better to use than store-bought items.

Melissa Maker, an accidental cleaning expert, has revealed the three DIY cleaners "that will make your home smell great."

For the everyday countertop DIY cleaner, Melissa explains that all you need is two cups of water, one teaspoon of dish soap, and 10 drops of your favorite essential oils.

All you have to do is put the ingredients in a kitchen spray bottle, shake them up, spray the product on the area you want to clean, and let it sit for about a minute before wiping it up.

The next step is to simply use a microfiber cloth to wipe the counter down in an S-shaped motion.

The second type of DIY cleaner Melissa suggests to her viewers is a floor cleaner.

To create a general floor cleaner, she lists the following soap ingredients: "1 1/2 cups of water, 1/4 cup of white vinegar, 1/8 cup of rubbing alcohol, two drops of dish soap and five to 10 drops of your favorite essential oil, something which is optional."

And as for DIY glass and mirror cleaners, Michelle explains you'll need one cup of white vinegar, one cup of water, and 10 drops of your favorite essential oil to create a lovely-smelling cleaner.

She promises her viewers that the tiny droplets in the oils will not show on the glass or mirrors.

And with all the cooking and baking that goes down in the kitchen, it's normal for grease, grime, and crumbs to accumulate.

Luckily, you can eliminate this mess just as fast as it appears with these nifty cleaning tips and gear.

Fortunately, you can get rid of scuff marks and splatter stains on key areas like your walls, stovetop, and kitchen counters with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, according to Real Simple.

Meanwhile, cleaning experts have shared the four items that you should never put in your dishwasher under any circumstances.

AO.com shared a helpful video on their social media sites explaining the do’s and don'ts of dishwashers, as well as the things in your kitchen that could even damage your kitchen device.

In it, they run through the items one by one, starting off with plates that you’ve broken and decided to glue back together.

Explaining the reasoning behind this, AO said that “the plates you’ve glued back together run the risk of breaking again.”

The second item banned from dishwashers is sharp kitchen knives.

While it may be tempting to let the machine work its magic, the experts explain this is a big no-no that could end up costing you in the long run.

They continued: “The process of the cycle can cause your sharp kitchen knives to rust.”

Wooden chopping boards are next on the list, as “the fibers in our wooden chopping boards will cause the board to expand and crack.”

Lastly, printed measuring cups should be confined to the washing-up bowl only.
