I work in Trader Joe's – the most stolen item isn't what you'd expect and it's not wine or any alcohol

A TRADER Joe’s worker has revealed that meat is the most stolen item.

The unnamed Redditor, who apparently works in a store in downtown Chicago, claims it’s harder for shoplifters to pinch a bottle of wine.

The worker said the vacuum-packed steaks can be “pocketed easily” into thieves’ pockets.

He added: “Shoplifters tend to think we watch the alcohol more but it’s harder to steal a bottle of wine than a pound of ground beef.”

He also revealed that some Trader Joe’s stores have crew members on the lookout, while others have security guards.

And, the worker claimed that he catches shoplifters almost every day.

I work at Trader Joe’s – there’s one product I can’t live without

Dozens of Redditors have bombarded the employee with a series of questions on the thread.

One person asked: “What is the one Trader Joe’s product that you could not live without? (Tahitian Vanilla Caramel balls for me).”

The worker responded: “Japanese Style Fried Rice. F**king awesomeness, seriously edamame and seaweed in fried rice? Delicious.”

The rice contains edamame beans – a vegetable that’s commonly used in East Asian cookery – and seaweed.

The worker also revealed that some of his favorite items include bags of Powerberries – which are a mixture of blueberries, raspberries, and cranberries covered in chocolate.

He also admitted that he’s a fan of the store’s Vintage Ale.

But, some Trader Joe’s employees claim the cuts of meat and frozen produce are too expensive.

The Sun has shared some of the secrets that Trader Joe’s shoppers may not be aware of.

Speaking to Popsugar, a former staff member said the chain has more employees working than they need to make sure their customer service is perfect.

Meanwhile, ex-employees have revealed some of their pet peeves from their time working at the store.

One former worker blasted customers that don’t pick up their trash.

They told Business Insider that leaving empty cups creates a “nuisance” for employees, according to the former worker.

They said it's "unsanitary" to leave open packages.

The ex-worker also urged shoppers not to blame staff if the parking lot at their local store is small.

They warned that complaining to employees about the lack of car parking space is futile.
