To make matters more complicated a number of key actors had yet to sign on to the third film as the first day of shooting drew near, and  the script for the movie was being re-written frequently during production.

‘Some people were trying to figure out whether they wanted to do it, and we needed all of them or none,’ Holland said in a GQ profile.

‘You could ask the director, “What happens in act three?” And his response would be, “I’m still trying to figure it out”,’ he continued to divulge at the time.

But the cast and crew managed to make it work, with Holland even teasing a ‘style of fighting in this film that you’ve never seen in the Spider-Man movies before.’ The film hits theaters December 17.
